Serviced Apartment
A week before Christmas, ICAB’s housing team were contacted by Places for People, a large trusted housing association, after a property in Greater London faced an issue affecting the resident’s living conditions. The problem, involving damp and mould, required immediate action to ensure the resident’s safety.
As the works to alleviate the problem were due to begin, it became clear that the repairs would take time to complete. Mould, if left untreated, can lead to serious health concerns, so Places for People acted swiftly to resolve the issue. To ensure the resident’s comfort during the repairs, ICAB were instructed to find alternative accommodation in the form of a serviced apartment for her and her small dog.
The resident, who had recently undergone back surgery and experienced slight mobility challenges, requested an apartment with a bath.
ICAB’s claims handlers are used to working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines, and despite it being during the busy Christmas period, they rose to the challenge, working with one of their valued serviced apartment suppliers. They sourced the accommodation and arranged the booking to commence the same night, so the resident was safe and secure over the holiday period.
The fully furnished serviced apartment with cooking and laundry facilities provided a home from home environment for the resident. Additionally, ICAB coordinated storage for the resident’s furniture and belongings, liaising with one of its tried and tested suppliers, ensuring everything was taken care of with minimal disruption.
As the planned works took longer than first anticipated, ICAB ensured there was no disruption to the resident’s accommodation. When the property owner advised ICAB that the block where the apartment was located was becoming fully booked, the team worked proactively with the supplier to guarantee the booking, and the extension was booked, in advance, leading to a seamless experience with no disruption to the resident.
