Emergency assistance during the holidays: ICAB’s 24/7 support
Three days before Christmas, ICAB’s Claims Team was contacted by an insurance company with a claim for an elderly policyholder who lived in a village in central Scotland.
Recently, we reached a significant milestone by having our targets approved by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi), demonstrating our dedication to reducing our carbon footprint.
ICAB understand the pressing need to align its operations with global efforts to limit global warming and reduce the adverse effects of climate change. By setting science-based targets, we’re not merely making a pledge; we are taking concrete actions to reduce our environmental impact.
ICAB’s journey towards sustainability is underpinned by setting clear and ambitious targets in line with the scientifically-driven recommendations of the SBTi. We have committed to reduce our scope 1 and scope 2 Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions 42% by 2030 from a 2021 base year, and to measure and reduce our scope 3 emissions.
The SBTi is a coalition of organisations working together to combat climate change by promoting the adoption of science-based targets in the business world. Science-based targets show organisations how much and how quickly they need to reduce their Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions to prevent the worst effects of climate change.
The Greenhouse Gas Protocol categorises direct and indirect emissions into three broad scopes:

ICAB’s commitment to sustainability is deeply rooted in our values and vision for a better future. Here are some key reasons why we’re taking such action:
Responsibility
ICAB recognises the responsibility to contribute to a sustainable future. As a company deeply involved in the insurance and accommodation sectors, it understands the potential environmental impact of our operations and is committed to minimising it.
Leadership
By setting science-based targets and embracing sustainability as a core principle, ICAB aims to lead by example within our industry and among SMEs. We hope to inspire other organisations to follow suit and work collectively towards a greener and more sustainable world.
Resilience
Climate change poses a real and tangible threat to businesses worldwide. By proactively addressing our carbon emissions, ICAB is enhancing our resilience to climate-related risks, help to ensure our long-term viability and success.
Innovation
Sustainability goals drive innovation. By seeking ways to reduce emissions and minimise environmental impact, ICAB is fostering a culture of innovation that can lead to creative solutions and operational efficiencies.
Achieving the ambitious targets agreed by the SBTi will require dedication, innovation, and collaboration across the organisation. It will involve adopting more energy-efficient practices, investing in renewable energy sources, and exploring sustainable transportation options, among other initiatives.
We have also committed to transparent reporting on our progress. Regular updates on our sustainability efforts, emissions reductions, and other related initiatives will be shared with stakeholders, fostering accountability and trust.
Our commitment to sustainability is not just a corporate initiative; it’s a collective endeavour. Every employee, partner, and stakeholder plays a vital role in this journey. Together, they are working towards a greener and more sustainable future, one where ICAB continues to provide outstanding service while minimising our environmental footprint.
As ICAB continues on this path, we invite all our stakeholders to join in the effort to combat climate change, reduce emissions, and build a better world for current and future generations. Together, we are making a significant impact, one sustainable step at a time.
Three days before Christmas, ICAB’s Claims Team was contacted by an insurance company with a claim for an elderly policyholder who lived in a village in central Scotland.
A call came in to ICAB’s claims team from a home insurance provider. Their policy holders had experienced subsidence in their Kirkaldy home and it was uninhabitable.
As part of its commitment to staff learning and development, ICAB launched its ‘Learning and Development Department’ in January 2024, headed up by Lucy Wyborn.
ICAB was contacted when major remedial cladding works were planned for a block of flats. The residents needed to be decanted to temporary accommodation whilst the works were undertaken.
